The Perfect Gift

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and I am sure many of you are searching for the perfect gift.  My favorite gift of all time was given to me on Valentine's Day 8 years ago.  Big E and I had started dating in October and I was heartbroken when I found out we weren't going to spend our first Valentine's Day together.

He was leaving for a family vacation and I was leaving on a girls trip to Turk and Caicos. We couldn't go with out seeing each other, so he came over Valentine's Day morning to have breakfast before leaving for the airport.  I was having an extremely hard time saying good bye because I knew we would be unable to contact each other, since we would be out of the country at the same time.  We stood by the door holding on to each other, neither one of us wanted to let go first.  Then he pulled out one more gift.  As I opened it, I was completely speechless.  It was a heart shaped jewelry box that was hand painted red.  The front of it said, "1,ooo♥ U's" in white. He had made me a present.
It was at that moment I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with him.  I opened the box and written (by hand, not photocopied) was 1,000 tiny pieces of paper and each one said, "I love you."  My thoughts, This guy is amazing!  "Check the bottom," he said.  There's more? Nothing can top this, I thought.  I dug my way to the bottom of the box and pulled out a ring (not and engagement ring- way too soon), but it was from Tiffany's.  It was crystal clear, he is definitely a keeper.
Although it was short, our first Valentine's Day together ended up being the most memorable one.  He completely outdid himself.  If you are looking to make an impression on someone, be creative.  You could never go wrong with a handmade gift.  It's personal, comes straight from the heart, and shows how much you care. This gift was absolutely unforgettable.
